PROJECT DESCRIPTION

With this project we want to achieve a greater social participation, mainly for people between 18 and 30 years old. The activities will be in the cultural and environmental centre Porto Burci, where we organize training courses and many kinds of events such as workshops, movie screenings, exhibitions, conferences and small concerts. The volunteers will have the task to get to know the people coming to the centre and encourage their direct involvement supporting the development of their ideas. They will also help other volunteers in the daily management of the center which includes reception, setting up the rooms and creating promotional material (pictures, flyers, videos…). They will be as well responsible for an information desk about the European Solidarity Corps and the development of a personal project addressed to the community. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

According to availability the accomodation could be a room in an apartment shared with other young people. It will be as close as possible to the city centre, or in a position which is well connected by public transport. The volunteers will have a pass for using busses and/or they can opt for using bikes, which we are going to provide if possible. The volunteers will have the kitchen at their disposal, so they can arrange the meals by themselves by using the food allowance.

VOLUNTEER PROFILE

We are looking for participants available to mingle with people of different age, culture and background, who are motivated for this experience and who are interested in the proposed activities: this has to be demonstrated during the selection process. Candidates who have already had some volunteering experience (even short) and who are already involved in the activities of the sending organization will be preferred, so that the volunteer and the staff can meet more easily during the application and the pre-departure, as well as contribuing with what has been learned upon return.
